First look: The government’s brand new energy saving scheme

Good news for homeowners across England! It has recently been announced that Chancellor Rishi Sunak has planned a £2bn grant scheme for projects involving insulation.

The ‘Green Homes Grant’, set to launch in September, will see the government pay at least two-thirds of the cost of installing energy saving measures in homes. How does it work?

In September, online applications for recommended energy efficiency measures will be available for homeowners to complete, along with details of accredited local suppliers like Thrift Energy. Once we have given you a quote on the project and the work is approved, you’ll receive your voucher!

Business Secretary Alok Sharma also added that the poorest households could receive up to £10,000 towards costs. So, in a nutshell, the scheme will mean lowering bills for thousands of households and saving them hundreds of pounds per year.
