First established in 2012, we quickly became one of the North East’s leading installers of energy saving solutions.
Today, we’re proud to be one of the UK’s largest employee-owned heating, insulation, and renewable energy group – and we continue to lead the way.
The Thrift Group comprises of Thrift Energy, Provincial Seals and Provincial Training. Our expert team has spent over a decade carefully crafting our list of services to ensure that, once installed in your property, you save crucial money on your bills whilst reducing your carbon footprint.
We’re also working hard to provide installation material to other installers and train the next generation of Retrofit compliant fitters and engineers to PAS 2030/2035 standards.

We understand that fuel poverty is a serious problem in Gateshead, Sunderland, Northumberland, and elsewhere across the North East, with the National Energy Action charity estimating that 172828 households (14.4%) live in fuel poverty in the region. So, we want to continue helping local households like yours keep your home warmer and your bills lower.
Our commitment to local people doesn’t stop with our customers. With 80% of our team living in the North East – and as of 2025 our staff being majority owners of the company – we’re making sure Thrift stays rooted here, supporting local households for years to come.
